Synthesis and structural investigations on R2Sn(IV)-D-aldonic acid complexes (R = methyl; butyl). Their effect on a new toxicity test organism,Liza s…

2008

Eight R2Sn(IV)-D-aldonate complexes [(R = Me, Bu; D-aldonate = D-galactonate2− (Galn), D-Gluconate2− (Glun), D-Gulonate2− (Guln), D-Ribonate2− (Ribn)], five of which are new derivatives, have been synthesized and structurally characterized both in solid and solution state by IR, 119Sn Mossbauer and 1H, 13C, 119Sn NMR spectroscopies, showing that ligands act as dianonic chelating agents. In solution phase, NMR data suggest that the bidentate chelation is attained by the O1 carboxylate and the vicinal O2 alkoxide atoms, which can be dynamically extended to a third binding site (O4) competing with O2. In Me2Sn(IV)-D-gluconate complex the occurrence of a self-association process leading to a di…

Tungsten(VI) complexes formed in an excess of gluconic acid: A polarimetric and spectrophotometric study

1985

The tungsten(VI)-gluconic acid system in an excess of this organic reagent has been spectroscopically and polarimetrically studied and four species, two mononuclear with stoichiometry 1∶2 (metal∶ligand) and two dinuclear with composition 2∶2, have been identified. The non-formation of a binuclear species with stoichiometry 2∶1 (metal∶ligand) demonstrates some preference towards coordination of carboxylate group.

Tungsten(VI)-gluconic acid complexes: Polarimetric and13C-N.m.r. Studies in an excess of tungsten(VI)

1986

A polarimetric study of the tungsten (VI)-gluconic acid system in an excess of metal reveals the formation of four stable complexes: two monomers with 1 : 2 and 2: 1 stoichiometries and two dimers of 2:2 composition. The pH ranges of these species, the amount of acid equivalents their formation requires, and their conditional stability constants have also been calculated.

Synthesis of aldonamide siloxanes by hydrosilylation

1998

Abstract The synthesis of hydrophobic/hydrophilic hybrid polymers based on polydimethylsiloxanes (PDMS) and carbohydrate derivatives involving a hydrosilylation step is reported. Starting with poly(dimethyl- co -hydromethyl)siloxanes (PDMS- co -HMS), O -acetylated N -allylaldonamides of various sugars can be attached to the siloxane backbone using platinum catalysts. The characteristics of different transition metal complexes in the polymer-analogous formation of SiC bonds are investigated. A generalized reaction pathway applicable to several reducing carbohydrates is established to synthesize aldonamide siloxanes in a broad variety of molecular weight and composition. The products obtaine…
